I take photographs sometimes for pleasure and sometimes for profit but always with the intention of capturing a mood, a moment, or a thing of beauty and, in many cases, all three.

My mode of operation might be considered to be unorthodox. You might approach me for a photographic session or I might approach you to ask if I could take your photograph for my portfolio. These measures are explained in detail under the About menu.

About Me

My name is David Beamish and I might be described as a Photography Journeyman as I only got seriously involved with photography when I retired from full-time work in marketing although I had been intending to for the previous twenty years or so. Therefore, I now hope to reach professional perfection before the final shutter comes down.

I have already attained a Diploma in Photographic Lighting from the Institute of Photography and currently in the process of working for a Diploma in Street Photography. For client security purposes concerns, I am fully CRB (Now DAB) checked, having previously worked with children. Every aspiring professional photographer has a 'Santa's Little Helper' and I am married to mine; Stevie, my lovely wife .

Although I currently do a small number of professional shoots, my main priority at this time is to build up a portfolio of pictures to both enhance and hone my skills, and for future presentations. There are two main consequences to this plan of action; firstly my fees for undertaking a shoot are substantially lower than most full-time professionals. Second, I might approach people that catch my eye to ask whether they would allow me to photograph them on the spot or by arrangement, in which case I would supply them with copies of the finished product free of charge.

  • Although there are many beautiful places to photograph, my main interest is in capturing shots of people people and their activities.

  • Please see my page  showing some of the hundreds of portraits that I have taken either by arrangement, or whilst out and about.

  • Having already attained a Diploma in Photographic Lighting from the Institute of Photography I am currently in the process of working for a Diploma in Street Photography. Please see my Street  photography page.

  • Street Photography doesn't necessary require a specific subject because it's concern is daily life and everything that happens in a public space. The image could be a social or economic observation.

  • I am mobile which enables me to bring my camera and lighting equipment  to a client's home or to a location of their choice (within a 30 mile radius of Guildford).

  • I am accessible from 8.00 am to 8pm, from Monday to Saturday. If engaged, please leave your  number and I will call you back.

  • Any queries, please call me for a chat, with no obligation whatsoever.
